Intellectual Concepts is looking for the right individual to join an innovative, skilled, and collaborative Data Analytic Group focused on leveraging geospatial technologies and developing creative solutions. GIS / CAD Technician will support the Mobility and Environmental Services area through advanced geospatial analytics to identify and solve complex problems and to optimize decisions; integrating real-time data to provide a comprehensive view into operations; configuring field apps to achieve efficiencies in field operations; configuring data-driven maps to guide community assessment and decision making.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the motivation to develop and execute geospatial strategies as part of a collaborative team environment. The candidate will enthusiastically promote the value and support the expansion of geospatial solutions throughout the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
- CAD knowledge such as Autodesk or Bentley CAD systems.
- Works closely with a project team consisting of engineers, planners, public health professionals, and field personnel.
- Designs, develops, and implements applications for accessing and analyzing spatial data.
- Perform GIS troubleshooting activities and implement corrective action.
- Works with data sets, CAD conversions, map creations, and database management to support GIS mapping projects throughout.
- Designs or develops databases that include geographic or topographic data.
- Monitors mapping work or the updating of maps to ensure accuracy, the inclusion of new or changed information, or compliance with rules and regulations.
- Produces or updates overlay maps to show information boundaries or topographic features on various base maps or at different scales.
- Checks all layers of maps to ensure accuracy, identifying and marking errors and making corrections.
- Determines scales, line sizes, or colors to be used for hard copies of computerized maps, using plotters.
- Identifies and compiles database information to create maps in response to requests.
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, geography, geographical information systems or directly related field and two years of professional level GIS programming, analysis, data management and / or cartographic products.
