Are you a passionate and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) and want to play a key role in managing and optimizing database infrastructures. In this position, you’ll work with multiple versions of SQL Server (on-prem and AWS RDS), alongside PostgreSQL databases, to ensure high availability, performance, and security across the board.
Your expertise will help different teams maintain smooth operations and enhance data integrity for business-critical applications. You will be part of a collaborative team focused on database best practices, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and leveraging cloud technologies for the future of our data systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases (on-premise and AWS RDS), ensuring they are highly available, secure, and performing optimally.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize queries, and manage index and database structure to enhance efficiency.
- Implement and manage regular backup processes, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions.
- Plan and execute database version upgrades, migrations, and integrations between different environments, including on-prem and cloud (AWS RDS).
- Support and manage AWS RDS instances, ensuring proper configuration, scaling, and performance.
- Assist with maintaining and troubleshooting PostgreSQL environments as needed.
- Work closely with development, operations, and other IT teams to ensure smooth database integration, deployment, and support processes. Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Implement security best practices, including user access control, data encryption, and auditing within the databases.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in database administration.
- Strong experience managing various versions of SQL Server (2016, 2017, 2019) on both on-premise servers and AWS RDS.
- Hands-on experience with AWS RDS for SQL Server (configuration, monitoring, performance tuning).
- Experience with PostgreSQL database administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of creating and managing disaster recovery plans, backup schedules, and failover strategies.
- Proven ability to optimize SQL queries, index strategies, and overall database performance.
- Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting languages) to automate database management tasks.
- Experience with database security, including encryption, user permissions, and compliance standards.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve database-related issues quickly and efficiently.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database
Advanced Knowledge of SQL Server: Experience with advanced features like Always On Availability Groups, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Experience with DevOps: Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
