What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custom Production Assemblers position at Intelligent Traffic Supply Products?
We are currently seeking Production Assemblers to perform mechanical assembly of a variety of traffic related equipment, assemblies, sub-assemblies and hardware components. We have 3 levels of Assemblers – each with varying skills and levels of decision-making and independent working. Candidates will be hired based on their current skills and advance to the next level as appropriate. Candidates with required electrical and computer skills may further advance to Assembly Technicians.
Responsibilities
Level 1: Assembly Only
Develop functional knowledge of basic cabinet assembly and components installation such as lights, fans, thermostats, receptacles, landing wires; relies on others to perform and approve testing. Must have working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures
within the electrical field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform functions under direct supervision. Performs routine tasks with ongoing training. Minimal degree of latitude to change processes, but initiation and flexibility of work tasks is encouraged. Relies on Team Leader to coordinate day-to-day tasks.
Level 2: Assembly, Testing and Troubleshooting
Develop working knowledge of cabinet assembly and component installation including landing wires and unit testing for power; able to analyze and troubleshoot problems; requires assistance and approval from Team Lead for final resolution. Proficient with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the traffic and electrical field. Relies on successful experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals, under general supervision. Performs a variety of routine and unique tasks with ongoing training. Some amount of creativity and latitude expected to communicate and initiate ideas. Relies on Team Lead to coordinate day-to-day tasks.
Level 3: Assembly, Testing, Troubleshooting and Resolution
Proficient knowledge of cabinet assembly, devices, and landing wires, unit tests devices, connectivity and power; troubleshoots and resolves problems. Relies on successful experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals with limited supervision. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Relies on Team Lead to coordinate weekly tasks.
Basic Duties of all Assemblers:
- Preparing for work by studying the detailed parts lists, the manufacturer and assembly instructions, requisitioning required components and tools and then staging work-space for building.
- Assembling hardware parts and components using standard hand or power tools and techniques to produce mechanical products.
- Performing assembly of traffic cabinets or other electronic equipment such as controllers, wire terminations, wire harnesses, cable assemblies, relays, switches and monitors to produce traffic equipment.
- Prepare equipment for testing and inspection or perform those duties when fully trained
- Perform quality assurance checks throughout the assembly process.
- Perform shipping, receiving and delivery functions as necessary
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment at all times. Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
- Meet established daily productivity and quality goals for assembled products and completed work orders.
Qualifications:
Knowledge: Functional knowledge of efficiency (production and quality) operational protocols, including quotas and time management; ability to develop a functional knowledge of hundreds of parts, their descriptions and uses.
Skills: Proficient use of hand and power tools and basic hardware; expert organizational skills – able to organize paperwork and physical work areas; proficient communications skills – both oral and written to read, comprehend and write detailed instructions; working level analytical skills to interpret specifications, instructions and drawings; forklift certified or ability to obtain certification
Ability to: Act with Integrity at all times, be accountable for personal assignments, collaborate
in a team environment; be flexible in changing circumstances and communicate effectively with
others.
Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent; 2 years previous assembly experience in a warehouse or industrial setting; prior delivery experience operating a class C oversized vehicle.
Nature and Scope:
- Employee may be responsible for personal time management and daily planning of tasks and schedules.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as lift, twist, bend and pull up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Employee may be required to work hours in addition to the regular work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays due to the nature of industry work.
- Work takes place in a warehouse setting, outside making deliveries or material transfers to auxiliary warehouse. Wide fluctuations in temperature should be expected.
- Comfortable and protective clothing must be worn at all times.
