The HR Generalist is at the forefront of the employee experience, providing support from recruiting through an employee’s exit. The position focuses heavily on hourly employee recruiting, plus administrative support for the P&C team and policy administration for the Company. You’ll work cross functionally to positively impact Intelligentsia’s objectives to promote and foster an inclusive and engaging workplace.
This is a hybrid role, working onsite on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and working from home on Thursday and Friday.
Duties & Responsibilities
Recruitment & Selection
Full lifecycle recruiting from requisitions through offer and background check.
Creatively source candidates when applicant flow is low.
Leverage technology to improve the hiring process to allow for a positive candidate experience and improved manager efficiency.
Coordinate recap meetings with interview teams across multiple time zones and locations
Track performance and open positions through established metrics and processes
HRIS
As owner of employee data, learn and enhance utilization of the Workday system for timely and accurate processing.
Act upon customer feedback to identify and remove obstacles in using the system.
Provide reports and act as a back-up for payroll as needed
Benefits Administration
Administer benefits plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations as well as invoice management and reporting
Provide support for audits and data requests associated with the Company’s benefit plans
Act as Leave Administrator to timely and consistently manage employee requests for FMLA, STD and ADA.
Assist in communications, education materials, tools and guidelines to drive employee plan utilization and improve preventative healthcare plan usage.
General HR Administration
Responsible for employee lifecycle events, including onboarding, benefits onboarding and offboarding.
First-line responsibility for the P&C mailbox questions relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, employment verifications, unemployment, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level People & Culture staff or management.
Plans and tracks training for all employees.
Maintains an electronic filing system in Box, ensuring accuracy and completeness of confidential employee files and records
Timely completion of Form I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintain I-9 files.
Streamline HR process to ensure operations run smoothly and to enhance the customer experience
Assist or lead on company culture initiates, events and special projects.
Maintain a consistent in-person presence in our business, both in coffeebars and on the production floor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience
At least three years of Human Resources experience
Recruiting experience is required with full cycle responsibility
Ability to proactively manage multiple projects
Knowledge of FMLA, ADA and employment law is needed
Knowledge of HR best practices is a plus

Ability to travel locally to visit coffeebars
Ability to read and speak English proficiently
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
At times, may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
Work Environment
Roasting Works: 7300 South Central Avenue, Bedford Park, IL 60638. This is a hybrid role, working onsite on Mon-Tues-Wed and working from home on Thurs-Fri.
Office and warehouse environment.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
