Technical Skills

1. Languages:

   • COBOL most widely used.

   • PL/I, Assembler, RPG

   • JCL used for job scripting on IBM mainframes.

   • REXX scripting and automation on mainframes.

   • CLIST Command List Scripting.

2. Operating Systems:

   • z/OS primary OS for IBM mainframes.

   • z/VM, VSE, MVS other IBM OSes.

3. Database Technologies:

   • DB2 IBM's relational database.

   • IMS (Information Management System)

   • VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method)

4. Tools & Utilities:

   • ISPF

   • TSO

   • SDSF for monitoring and managing jobs.

   • Endevor, Changeman for source code/version control.

   • Xpediter, File-AID debugging and file manipulation.

5. Middleware:

   • CICS (Customer Information Control System) for transaction processing.

   • MQ Series / IBM MQ messaging middleware.

6. Networking:

   • Knowledge of SNA, TCP/IP on mainframes.
