TITLE: Quality Control Lead
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the quality control department in a manufacturing plant producing food contact packaging products. This role ensures that all products meet the highest standards of quality and safety, in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and customer requirements. The Quality Control Supervisor will lead a team of quality inspectors and technicians, monitor production processes, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to maintain and enhance product quality.
2nd shift hours - 2pm to 10pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment, preferably in food contact packaging or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies, statistical analysis, and root cause analysis.
Experience with regulatory compliance, including SQF standards.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Supervision:
Supervise, train, and mentor quality control staff, including quality inspectors and technicians.
Assign tasks and manage the daily workflow of the quality control department.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
Oversee the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet specified standards.
Implement and monitor quality control procedures and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including FDA, SQF, and other relevant standards.
Maintain and update quality documentation, including test results, inspection records, and corrective actions.
Identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects and improve product quality.
Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
Lead root cause analysis investigations for non-conformances and customer complaints and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company standards, and customer requirements for food contact packaging products.
Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, including those related to SQF certification and other relevant quality standards.
Conduct regular audits of production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Communicate quality issues and trends to senior management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:
Fast-paced production floor with exposure to machinery noise and variable temperatures.
Must adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of PPE.
TRAINING:
Develop and deliver training programs for quality control staff. Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in quality control for food contact packaging.
Must complete ongoing training as required.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
Ability to move about the plant for extended periods of time.
