About This Position

You will work within the Knowledge and Learning Division under the Vice Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge (VPS/KLD), leading BIDAcademy's capacity-building efforts. BIDAcademy is the IDB Group's knowledge and learning platform to address the region's development challenges.
What you’ll do
- Contribute to the priority areas outlined in the IDB Group Institutional Strategy by leading the development and sharing cutting-edge know-how and operational knowledge through capacity-building programs.
- Lead capacity-building programs and learning opportunities on sector specific and cross-sector topics including the implementation of a new Development Effectiveness Policy Framework to enhance commitment to development outcomes and promote evidence-based decision-making and accountability; developing tools that facilitate and incentivize teams and counterparts to effectively manage the selection, design, and execution of projects with a strong emphasis on achieving results and strengthening the feedback loop between knowledge and operations; and implementing a results-oriented comprehensive portfolio review in all countries.
- Incorporate the Bank's knowledge, technical expertise, and experience from both operational and non-operational functions into the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning programs.
- Diagnose priority learning needs and determine products and services to meet those needs in alignment with the Bank’s institutional priorities.
- Position BIDAcademy as a strategic partner with the IDB technical divisions to design and implement capacity-building programs for regional public and private stakeholders.
- Leverage IDB knowledge products with other development partners. Promoting collaborations to share and disseminate learning materials with other multilateral organizations, universities, private companies, think tanks, and NGOs.
- Identify and promote innovative methodologies, platforms, and tools to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge produced by the IDB Group to wider audiences.
- Develop methods, approaches, and indicators to monitor and evaluate the impact of the Bank's learning programs and activities.
- Lead and mentor a highly skilled interdisciplinary and multi-cultural team of professionals, located in both headquarters and within the region; establish goals and expectations, handle performance, provide feedback and plan recruitments to optimize staff performance; and promote information sharing within the Unit, contributing to coherence, consistency and collaboration between employees.
- Align the Unit’s work plans with the broader goals and strategies of KLD and the IDB Group, translate these plans into a clear set of objectives, lead annual resource planning for the Unit, and align resources to deliver against these plans.
- Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Public Policy, Engineering, Economics, Law or similar field in the social, sciences or humanities, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience:
- Expertise in designing and developing learning frameworks, programs, and interventions tailored to the needs of different audiences.
- Ability to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive learning strategies and programs aligned with the organization's goals.
- Knowledge of methods to measure the effectiveness of learning programs and continuous improvement practices.
- Experience in building organizational and individual capacity through tailored learning initiatives.
- Proven experience in LAC is strongly preferred. Strong technical background and proven management track record.
- Experience handling multi-disciplinary and/or cross-sector teams, with demonstrated well-honed integration skills.
- Prior experience working with international organizations related to capacity building and learning related programs, particularly in a development context, is an advantage.
- Languages: Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required, and Spanish is highly desired. Additional knowledge of French or Portuguese is a plus.

- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
- Staff:
- International: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
