Essential Functions for the Transportation Manager Include:
- Establish efficient routes and transportation schedules.
- Coordinate Drivers and on-staff maintenance professionals when setting employee schedules.
- Monitor Drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices.
- Provide reports to management on schedules and fleet progress.
- Develop methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency.
- Respond to and resolve complaints and problems.
- Keep up-to-date on routes and any changes to them.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Actively listen, identifying problems and making decisions to resolve issues in a manner that projects trust and fairness.
- Represent the organization in a favorable manner.
- Clear and concise documentation of orders.
Minimum Required Qualifications for the Transportation Manager Include:
- Bachelors degree is preferred; some secondary education or equivalent experience is required
- Personal chemistry and characteristics to work effectively in teams and collaborate with co-workers.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required.
- Must be proficient with MS Office.
- Must be able to type 40wpm with accuracy.
- Proven ability to use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
