Inter-State Studio and Publishing Co., Americas largest family-owned school photography company located in Sedalia, Missouri is looking for the right person to fill the position of Assistant Corporate Controller. The Assistant Corporate Controller will be responsible for providing financial reporting and management of accounting staff and functions in support of the company's operations. The role requires working effectively under tight deadlines, attention to detail, and consistently accurate, high-quality analyses. This position reports to the Corporate Controller.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and payroll.
- Oversee the month-end closing, preparation of financial statements, general ledger reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Compile the monthly financial reporting package to facilitate senior management review.
- Identify and implement continuous process improvements and accounting best practices to further enhance the timeliness, accuracy and relevance of reporting provided to our internal and external management team.
- Assist with the annual budget and forecasting process.
- Provide timely and accurate accounting information in response to management requests, as needed.
- Assist with all external audits, including 401k audits, workers compensation audits, sales tax audits, and other regulatory audits, as necessary.
- Oversee financial compliance - Property tax filings, Business License filings and sales tax filings.
- Analyze financial information with a key focus on control and compliance while addressing any new requirements.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant with Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance with minimum of five years of experience in public or corporate accounting.
Minimum of five years managing/supervising a team.
Must display proficiency with computer-based accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications (a high level of proficiency with Excel is required).
Knowledge and familiarity with general cost accounting principles, including
accounts payable/receivable, payroll, expense accounts, forecasting, data
analysis, production of spreadsheets, State and Federal guidelines for
preparation of financials, and mathematical concepts.
Must possess excellent communication and managerial skills. Ability to direct and motivate team, complete multiple tasks in a timely manner, work well with others, organized, responsible, self-motivated.
Must possess the ability to analyze financial data and provide recommendations to facilitate growth and profitability for the organization.
