Job Purpose & Summary:
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect IV to serve as a Readiness Assessment Architect for a strategic IT initiative. The successful candidate will lead the evaluation of an IT department’s preparedness to develop and maintain a moderately complex, secure, in-house application using Microsoft technologies.
This role involves a comprehensive readiness assessment focused on staffing, architecture, development methodologies, and governance practices.
Project Scope:
The assessment will support planning for the SSF (State School Fund) Modernization project, a mission-critical system related to public education funding. Prior experience in the public education sector or funding/reporting systems is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the IT department’s readiness for in-house system development
- Analyze current capabilities in:
- Staffing and skills
- Software architecture
- Development approach (e.g., Agile/DevOps)
- Governance and compliance
- Identify risks, gaps, and areas for improvement
- Develop and deliver:
- Findings Report
- Risk and Gap Analysis
- Strategic Recommendations
- Implementation Roadmap
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in Microsoft development tools and architecture
- Experience with IT readiness assessments or maturity models
- Familiarity with public education funding systems or governmental reporting
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with stakeholders remotely
