The Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) is seeking a recent college graduate or early-career professional to join our growing marketing team. This role is an exciting opportunity to benefit from professional coaching and develop expertise in nonprofit communications, email marketing, copywriting, and content creation for one of the country's pre-eminent conservative educational organizations. The Associate Marketing Communications Specialist will play a key role in advancing ISI’s mission to educate for liberty by crafting compelling written content for students, faculty, program alumni, and supporters.

We’re looking for a talented writer and strategic thinker who can blend persuasive copywriting with data-driven email marketing techniques to enhance brand growth and audience engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and experience with digital marketing strategies.
This full-time position reports to the Director of Marketing and is based at ISI’s Kirby Campus headquarters—a historic 20-acre estate in Wilmington, Delaware. Remote work is not available for this role.
Principal Responsibilities—
- Copywriting – Create high-quality, engaging content that captures ISI’s voice for various marketing channels, including website copy, blog posts, social media, ads, and product descriptions.
- Website Content and Maintenance – Serve as the point of contact for all content on ISI’s website, ensuring that existing pages are maintained and new landing pages are built as needed.
- Email Campaigns – Develop and execute email marketing campaigns across departments (Development, Programs, and Alumni Engagement) to drive engagement, conversions, and brand loyalty.
- Audience Segmentation – Work with the marketing and database teams to segment the email subscriber list, ensuring messages are tailored for maximum relevance.
- A/B Testing – Continuously optimize email content, subject lines, layouts, and calls-to-action using A/B testing and data-driven insights.
- Marketing Automation – Implement automated email workflows, such as drip campaigns and lead nurture sequences, for different audience segments.
- Annual Report and Long-Form Marketing Projects – Assist the Director of Marketing with the Annual Report and other long-form marketing projects, including copywriting, editing, photo selection, and collaboration with the Chief of Staff.
- Coordinate with Contractors – Coordinate with outside contractors such as video copyeditors, copywriters, graphic designers, and printers as needed.
- Flagship Newsletter – Compile ISI’s flagship newsletter on intellectual conservatism.
- Print Materials Design – Design basic printed materials such as event invitations, flyers, programs, postcards, and brochures.
- Content Strategy – Contribute to the overall content strategy to ensure consistency in tone, voice, and messaging across all marketing materials.
- Brand Alignment – Ensure all written content aligns with ISI’s brand identity and resonates with the target audience.
- Performance Analysis – Track and analyze key email marketing performance metrics, such as open rates, click-through rates, and conversions.
- Industry Trends – Stay informed on best practices and emerging trends in copywriting and email marketing to enhance ISI’s strategies.
Qualifications—
This role is ideal for a recent college graduate or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in marketing and communications. While prior experience in copywriting, digital/email marketing, or a related field is preferred, a strong portfolio showcasing engaging content and a passion for writing and brand storytelling are the most important qualifications. Proficiency in or a willingness to learn email marketing platforms such as HubSpot, Pardot, MailChimp, Klaviyo, or Constant Contact is beneficial.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and an excellent command of written English are essential. Candidates who are eager to grow, take initiative, and learn new skills are encouraged to apply.
