ABOUT THIS POSITION
At Interfaith America (IA), we collaborate with internal and external partners to execute projects that achieve our mission. The Director of Evaluation will implement the new measurement, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework that flows from IA’s logic model, while monitoring the success of IA’s Theory of Change through evaluation and assessment. The Director of Evaluation is a highly collaborative role that provides leadership on the research, measurement, and evaluation of national projects.
The Director of Evaluation will harvest learnings, share findings, and make recommendations so IA can continue to grow its national projects, programs, and partnerships. The Director of Evaluation will be astute at utilizing data and research to communicate what we learn to our internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities:
Tracking, Monitoring, & Measuring
- Develop, refine, and implement data collection tools such as surveys, interview guides, observation protocols, and focus group instruments to support research and evaluation efforts at all levels of the organization
- Maintain and implement tools and systems for evaluation and identify best practices for using them across the organization
- Monitor progress of business plan metrics through data management (e.g., Salesforce campaigns) and tracking (e.g., seeking information from colleagues about their programs)
- Lead or supervise large evaluation projects by developing and implementing program evaluations for high priority IA programs
Evaluation & Research Strategy
- Understand Interfaith America’s mission and work to monitor and measure metrics that track the organization’s success; help develop future strategic metrics in partnership with IA executive leadership
- Develop long-term organizational evaluation questions in collaboration with the Board and other stakeholders to guide the work of senior staff
- Work with the Chief Impact Officer to advance strategic opportunities for organizational evaluation and impact measurement
- Synthesize evaluation findings for external audiences through effective communication and storytelling
- Monitor emerging research in relevant fields and disseminate key findings to the IA team
- In collaboration with the Director of Data Governance, create data visualization and summaries to facilitate insights from the data collected for stakeholders
Internal Consulting & Processes
- Develop consistent resources and processes to streamline evaluation across programs when possible while accounting for unique programmatic needs
- Provide consultation and capacity building for program leads as they develop evaluations for their programs (e.g., approaches to data collection, survey design, analysis, and reporting strategies)
- Liaise with Advancement on proposal and reporting needs related to programmatic and/or organizational outcomes
- Facilitate cyclical meetings for departments to review their progress towards goals and make meaning of their data in partnership with Directors across the organization
- Identify and manage external evaluators and research partners to assist with key projects while facilitating knowledge of key programs and evaluation deliverables
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- High level of religious literacy and fluency in diversity, pluralism, and inclusion
- Proven project management and organizational skills in managing collaborative projects with multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience with program and/or organizational assessment and evaluation
- Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Graduate degree in education, evaluation, or related field
- Demonstrated experience in with quantitative evaluation methodologies
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Stata, SPSS, Salesforce, and or Tableau

Travel: 10% travel to occasional professional development events and key IA programs
Location: This position will work 2-3 days per week from our Chicago Loop office and 2-3 days per week from home
Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000
