What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Teacher position at Interfaith Family Services?
Summary of essential job functions
- Overseeall instructional aspects of the classroom as the teacher for one of our age groups.
- Prepare daily instructional plans and secure resources for daily classroom functions.
- Practice firm behavioral management techniques.
- Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. reading stories, listening to students reading, language, spelling, facilitating activities, motor perception programs, colors, number charts, checks homework, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts and reaching their academic goals and potential
- Promotes good habits for the purpose of improving the quality of students’ outcomes and encouraging student social/emotional development.
- Implements instructional learning activities for the purpose of improving students' academic, physical, and social skills.
- Complete 25 hours of training annually.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements
- HS Diploma (experience equivalent)
- Teacher Certification and/or two or more years of teaching experience.
- Previous experience with at-risk children (preferred)
- Experience with school aged children K-12th grade.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must supervise and/or participate in outdoor activities with children, including swimming, camps, games, etc.
- Ability to work with parents, volunteers, and children in and out of the classroom setting.
- Valid driver’s license.
