Agency Overview:

The Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers program provides a variety of support for older and disabled adults who are struggling to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Direct services are provided through a large group of trained, supported and caring volunteers. Program staff work to coordinate all of the services, managing and supporting both the volunteers and clients in numerous ways.

Position Summary:

The Client Service Coordinator will be responsible for intake and assessment of new clients, as well as arranging for the provision of direct 1:1 services, including the placement and support of 1:1 matches. Will equip clients with a variety of resource information to help them access other community services and develop creative ways of serving clients with special or significant needs. Will also assist with other service related work and a variety of networking and outreach activities that allow the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Program to carry out its mission, ensuring excellent service delivery to those in need of help.

Qualifications:

Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and deal effectively, kindly and patiently with a wide variety of people. Must be empathetic, non-judgmental and eager to help others. Must also be able to work independently, have strong organizational skills, and offer a high level of productivity. Must work well as part of a team. Should have professional communication skills, and be able to use technology with ease. A familiarity with community resources, volunteer management and services for older/disabled adults is preferred.

Ideal candidate will be mission driven, compassionate, positive and dedicated to find creative ways to serve the varied needs of diverse clients and volunteers.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Position Details:

The position requires a flexible schedule. Regular assignments will need to be done outside of the office, including occasional evening and weekend work. Job duties will include some minimal physical work such as bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting objects less than 50 pounds.

Approximately half of this position involves desk work, and the other half involves work in the field. The office portion involves a lot of phone work and record keeping. The field work will involve on-site assessment of clients in their homes and facilitation of 1:1 matches, and will require regular local travel throughout Macomb, Oakland & St. Clair Counties. Occasional travel to and participation in outreaches, trainings and networking groups is also an ongoing part of this job.

This position also serves as backup for the Volunteer Coordinator and Service Coordinators, to ensure timely onboarding of volunteers and timely delivery of service to program clients.

Salary & Hours:

Salary based on experience and related skills, starting at $17 to $19 per hour. Full-time candidate preferred, but consideration will be given to strong part-time applicants as well.

  • Three weeks paid-time off, plus two floating holidays, per calendar year.

  • Mileage reimbursement for work related travel.
  • Employer paid training and conferences, as approved.
