Since 1972, Interfaith Works (IW) has been meeting people where they are regardless of their challenges. We provide emergency shelter, supportive housing, essential needs, and employment programs to over 35,000 Montgomery County, MD, residents each year.

Our mission is to support our neighbors by providing vital services and a pathway to greater stability. Our clients and residents are served by 190 trained and professional staff members, as well as 7,000 volunteers. We also advocate for policies and programs that enhance the stability and opportunities of our neighbors.

Position Summary

All Service Coordinators will be trained on all workstations within the Essential Needs building. The Service Coordinator will be expected to work throughout the building as assigned by the Program Director.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Check clients in and out of our software system for their shopping appointments.
  • Maintain accurate records of clients, volunteers and doners.
  • Collaboratively work with other staff members and volunteers.
  • Inform volunteers and doners on program procedures, agency policy and mission.
  • Treat all clients, volunteers, doners and staff with dignity, respect, and fairness.
  • Help the Volunteer Coordinator with overseeing the volunteers and their work.
  • Welcome, engage and assist all doners and volunteers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment at all times.
  • Unload pallets of food and bags/boxes of donations timely and safely.
  • Ability to assist in food and diaper distribution throughout the local community.
  • Ability to assist in local pick-ups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Strong communications skills
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as a PC computer and a business phone.
  • Good phone etiquette
  • Handle multiple projects efficiently and with flexibility.
  • Ability to lift up-to 40lbs at a time.
  • Works independently and collaborates with a diverse team.
  • Bilingual in Spanish & English is helpful or the ability to communicate using basic translation tools.

Education And Experience

High School diploma or GED

2 years of customer service experience
