What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) - Hospice position at Interim Healthcare - Lancaster, CA?
Interim Healthcare Hospice Lancaster, owned and operated by Saint Andrew’s Abbey, is a new hospice agency in the Antelope Valley looking to build a team of compassionate caregivers who will join us in our mission. We have a unique opportunity in our Hospice as a Per Diem Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA). We are looking for individuals who are interested in providing compassionate care to our patients and their loved ones.
The hospice CHHA is responsible for providing personal care services to hospice patients, as well as support in incidental/instrumental activities of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Interim HealthCare Hospice and applicable state and federal law or regulation.
Job Limitations
The Hospice Aide does not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the Nurse Practice Act of the state in which hospice care is delivered.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Has successfully completed:
- A training program and competency evaluation as required by federal regulation 418.76 (b)&(c); or
- A competency evaluation program as required by the federal regulation 418.76 (c); or
- A nurse aide training and competency evaluation program approved by the state and meets the requirements of the federal regulations (§483.151 through §483.154) and is currently listed in good standing on the state nurse aide registry; or
- A state licensure program;
AND
- Has not had a lapse in work for compensation for the period of 24 consecutive months as a hospice aide or nurse aide.
- If there has been a 24-month lapse in furnishing services for compensation, the individual must successfully complete another program, as specified above in this section, before providing services.
- Has not had a lapse in work for compensation for the period of 24 consecutive months as a hospice aide or nurse aide.
- Six (6) months of experience in healthcare or completion of the hospice office’s preceptor program
- Hospice experience preferred.
