CORE RESPONSIBILITIES : Finance Department

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Revenue Cycle Manager and Billing Department, as well as payroll function.
  • Work collaboratively with the CFO, Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis, and Business Intelligence towards streamlining month and year end financial reporting processes, related to the revenue cycle, accounts receivable, activity-based expense allocations, and productivity from eCW and SIS systems.
  • Ensure that financial plans align with business objectives and provides insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee the Physician and Advanced Practice Clinician Compensation Analyst function.
  • Ensure payroll adherence to employment contracts and with payroll regulations.
  • Lead the annual retirement plan audit. This includes organizing the content and managing the timeline in order to complete the audit.
  • Assist the Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis with the annual financial audit, as needed.
  • Work with CFO to determine appropriate internal control processes and methods to periodically verify adherence.
  • Oversight of the company’s adherence to income and property tax requirements and filings.
  • Work collaboratively with Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis and personnel in Business Intelligence to streamline the reporting of daily bank deposits.
  • Oversight of treasury functions, including cash management, abandoned property submissions and collections and adherence with company’s Investment Policy.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis, Operations Directors and Practice Managers to identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Manage the policies and procedures within both the Finance and Billing departments. Collaborate with the auditors to determine the need for new policies and procedures and / or changes to current policies and procedures.
  • Foster strong working relationships with other senior managers to facilitate effective communication and follow through on key financial and operational initiatives.
  • Collaborate across different functional areas to meet business strategies and objectives.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES : Revenue Cycle Manager and Billing Department

  • Oversee the management of the Billing department to include credentialing, fidelity with payor contracts, accounts receivable, and patient collections. Such management will include the use of individual performance measurements, training and development plans, and appropriate internal policies and procedures to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of all patient billing and collection activity.
  • Assure necessary training and development of appropriate staff to optimize the effective use of eCW and ASC billing systems.
  • Research and recommend upgrades and / or new systems as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Healthcare Contracting Administrator, Compliance and Risk and the Billing Manager to identify areas of concern with third-party payers. This may require direct communication with the third-party payers.
  • Serve as the primary linkage between the operational teams and the back-end support departments of Billing, Business Intelligence and other Finance team members.
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA guidelines.

  • Approver for staff payroll biweekly in accordance with payroll department guidelines and schedule.
  • Mentors and counsels’ staff to include initiating Performance Improvement plans.
  • Works with the Compliance and Human Resources teams to assure compliance with State, Federal and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements for staff.

  • Leads Lean Six Sigma initiatives for the department to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Fosters intra-departmental support and collaboration between all sites.

  • Develop and maintain an open and effective line of communication with employees.

  • Works in partnership with the clinical teams, practice leadership, and senior leadership teams.

  • Fosters strong working relationships with all levels of the organization to facilitate effective communication and to connect front line staff’s daily priorities to the organization’s strategic goals.

  • Strategic Planning and Program Coordination
  • Assess current state of department with relation to existing InterMed goals and plans.

  • Develops proactive plans to ensure InterMed’s positioning as a leader in healthcare in alignment with company KPIs.
  • Monitors budgets to identify potential financial overruns and variances; makes appropriate recommendations to alleviate financial implications.
  • Champions interdepartmental problem solving.
  • Ensures appropriate departmental policy development and adherence.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines. Maintain confidentiality related to financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic, or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and / or employees. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Education :
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • Experience :
  • 7–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience is required. Healthcare leadership experience with proven success working collaboratively with physicians is preferred.
  • License / Certifications :
  • CPA is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Experience leading high-functioning teams is required.
  • Experience using data analytics to inform decision making is required.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information to different audiences with varying backgrounds is required.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and plan work independently is required.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization is required.
  • Excellent communication skills are required : listening, oral and written.
