What are the responsibilities and job description for the New Graduate MRI Technologist position at Intermountain Health?
Job Description: The MRI technologist is responsible for compassionate and appropriate patient care while performing MRI examinations under the direction of a physician to assist in the medical diagnosis or treatment of injury.
The position requires understanding of MRI safety concepts, executing them diligently and consistently to maintain magnet safety for patients, guests, self, and fellow caregivers. Additionally, the technologist must understand MRI scanning parameters, selecting appropriate technical parameters and scanning techniques to ensure clinical exams are of good quality.
Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI examinations according to system and department standard protocols.
- Ensure proper patient identification, order identification, and prepares the patient appropriately for the exam.
- Understand cross sectional anatomy and demonstrates appropriate anatomical positioning and multiplanar image reconstruction.
Requirements:
- ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification
- -or- ARRT(R) certification with at least 1 year full-time experience in MRI
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
