Job Summary:
As the Assist Employee Recreation Manager you will Assist the Manager in developing and implementing comprehensive staff training covering all aspects of the program. Ensure all staff training requirements are completed and promote ongoing learning throughout the season. Identify areas where additional training is needed, address gaps and create development plans for staff.

Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview, hire and place qualified personnel in appropriate roles based on skills and availability. Prepare staff for their positions through clear communication and provide necessary information before arrival.
- Oversee the inventory and maintenance of supplies, equipment and facilities. Assist manager in purchasing supplies and equipment needed. Evaluate the upkeep of athletic and recreation facilities. Conduct or coordinate maintenance.
- Maintain open communication daily with location staff, program managers, concessioners’ management, and the YCERP committee.
- Ensure all paperwork, reports, and evaluations are submitted and processed on time. This includes approving payroll, managing participation data, updating Clover systems, submitting vehicle inspection reports, etc.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing the comprehensive Park-wide Program Activities. This includes but is not limited to the hiring or appointing of qualified officials and executing the various games and tournaments of athletic programs, creating on-line voting systems and display for photo contests, organizing logistics for employee talent shows, etc. Design and proof all advertisement materials for seasonal and week-to-week programming. Compile statistical data to refine future program offerings.
- Revise and approve staff schedules for park activities and trips, ensuring all needs are covered. Manage bookings for external trips.
- Adhere to the program procedures, philosophies and goals. Ensures staff understands and feels comfortable with all program policies and the goals of the program are achieved. Provide guidance to staff, resolve conflicts, conduct performance reviews. Build a positive work environment by addressing staff needs and promoting career development opportunities.
- Assist manager in financial decisions, program budget planning, and purchasing. Begin to learn financial operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years or equal experience in recreation coordination leadership preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Quick thinking skills and able to adapt to the constant pace of Yellowstone’s seasonal employee needs
- Understanding of budget management and the ability to forecast spending needs to comply with the financial plan
- Experience writing and reviewing work schedules to ensure proper use of labor and minimize unnecessary labor hours including overtime hours
- Ability to recruit, retain, and lead a diverse workforce
- Experience in strategic and long term planning
- Familiarity with laws and regulations as they relate to the hospitality industry, and an ability to keep abreast of this developing and complex field
- Proven ability to build productive relationships by positively interacting with coworkers and clients.
- Passion for National Parks, customer and employee experiences, and embracing the history of Yellowstone
- Position requires a valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements include:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a higher altitude environment with changing weather conditions and temperatures
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to lift boxes of materials in weight up to 50 lbs
- Ability to walk, reach, kneel, crawl, lay on stomach, and/or stand as necessary to perform job duties as noted
