Job Summary:

The Human Resource Manager manages the day-to-day operation of human resource functions and ensuring compliance. Responsible for administration of a broad range of responsibilities: employee relations, benefits, recordkeeping, data entry, implementation of policies and procedures, training, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement, Core Values and Culture Pillars.                                           
  • Hires, onboards, trains and supervises HR administrative staff primarily for the following roles of HR Talent Manager, HR Analyst, Training Coordinator, and supports the Talent Manager regarding HR Coordinator and HR File Admin to ensure smooth coordination and effective day-to-day clerical and administrative functions are accurately completed for each function
  • Works in alliance with Human Resources Talent Manager to ensure timely and accurate processing of new hires – ensuring E-Verify and Arizona New Hire compliance.
  • Overseas, supports, and processes in the following areas: New/rehire orientation tracking, property to property transfer, annual reviews, written actions, RV Park reports, the Educational Reimbursement Program, unemployment insurance claims, and new job codes in GHR/Kronos to ensure proper completion, documentation and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Represents the company at any hearing as needed, monitors action taken as a result of SMP/ IMP status audits, and action taken on payroll deductions for insurance premiums, etc.
  • Maintains positive employee relationships; is available to employees/management to discuss concerns, ensure that employment and other issues pertinent to the employee are properly administered, provide timely guidance to managers/supervisors regarding their personnel with follow-up as necessary, ensure employee/management issues are consistently and properly addressed, and if necessary that applicable corrective action is properly implemented.
  • Reviews post-employment Background and Motor Vehicle Record checks; timely communicates recommendation of alert results with Director of Human Resources.
  • Works in alliance with HR Director communicating and issuing pre-adverse/adverse letters with affected employees.
  • Works with Director of HR and/or General Manager to approve employment terminations in advance of discharge taking place, reviewing reason and documentation thoroughly with manager before giving approval and or administrating the termination process.
  • Administers Xanterra Travel Company Policies and Procedures and company policies and procedures within the Human Resource Manager’s realm of responsibility for Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel.
  • Works with Director of HR, in monitoring and tracking departmental finances for HR Manager area of responsibility, employee events (i.e. employee picnic, health fairs, flu shot clinics, etc.), while adhering to the requirements of the HR budget.
  • Understands and Administers GHR/iCIMS/timekeeping systems as it applies to HR processes.
  • Works with HR Talent Manager to ensure employee files and documents are accurately filed in compliance with Xanterra’s File and Retention policy, (including auditing for proper completion of I-9 forms and acceptable documents, and E-Verify Compliance, etc.)
  • Works with HR Training Coordinator to ensure New Hire Orientation training program is updated and attendees tracked to ensure 100% completion of processes.
  • Assumes responsibilities for Human Resource Department in the absence of the Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years working knowledge of HR practices and principals, managing employee relations, benefits, recruitment, recordkeeping, data entry, implementation of policies and procedures, training, and demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the management team that provides overall company leadership and direction.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a leadership role, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR department staff members.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HR Generalist experience with an emphasis on recruiting and employee relations and benefits is a plus.
  • Professional Human Resources Certification and experience in the hospitality industry a plus.
  • Global HR, Lawson, Kronos and Outlook experience a plus.
  • Bi-lingual language skills (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly listening, hearing, seeing, sitting, twisting, eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, handling and wrist motion lifting/carrying 10lbs or less.
  • Occasionally standing, walking, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, climbing, squat/kneeling, carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Will be required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally walk, climb stairs and walk on uneven surfaces.
