Seeking experienced, cheerful individual who is reliable, highly motivated to perform medical receptionist & administrative duties for fast paced and growing Internal Medicine practice.
Scope
Under the direction of the Practice Manager, greets, instructs & informs patient in completion of appropriate forms, HIPAA Notice of Privacy practices, waiting times, & answers non-medical questions. Checks patients in/out, verifies demographic and health plan information and accurately enters it into EPIC / eClinicalWorks (eCW), collects payments, and may schedule patient appointments. Informs staff when patients arrive for appointments. Performs office duties as directed including answering phones, making reminder/missed appointment calls, taking messages, opening mail, pharmacy interaction, etc.
Essential Duties
Acknowledges and welcomes patients and visitors
Informs staff of patient/visitor arrival & provides instruction, assistance and information as to completion of required paperwork and waiting times.
Answers general questions about the facility/office: location, rest rooms, elevators, hours of operation, etc.
Ensures waiting area is clean, tidy, and appropriate patient announcements & brochures
As directed, conveys information to patients and/or visitors
Assists or calls for assistance with patients with ambulatory difficulties
Obtains registration info from patient for input into EPIC
Verifies and/or updates demographic and health plan information
Checks patients in and out of office
Provides patients with information regarding payment obligations, HIPAA Notice of Privacy practices, clinic policies, and collects all required forms and signatures
Schedules appointments into EPIC according to Practice protocol
Conveys schedule changes to appropriate staff
Reviews next day's schedules and makes appointment reminder calls
Reviews No-Show and Cancellation List(s) and makes follow-up calls
May assist patients with obtaining appointments at other physician and hospital sites and/or schedules lab or radiology testing
Collects copays, cash, check, or credit card payments ensuring patients receive receipts, Posts all payments in EPIC / eCW
Balances daily cash and collections
Ensures change drawers and cash are secured and appropriate financial procedures are followed in transferring payments to Management. Identifies problematic accounts and directs them to the Management.
Answers multiple lines, screens calls, takes accurate and detailed messages for all calls including telephone encounters, directs calls to appropriate support staff
Understands limits of responsibility by not providing medical advice to patients
Performs all other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Prefer One year experience in customer service setting, preferably in a medical office with basic knowledge of medical terminology
EPIC / eCW experience preferred
Computer Skills are Mandatory
Education &/or Certificate/License
High School Diploma or GED

Computer Proficiency: Ability to learn and become proficient in EPIC / eCW software as well as have basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
