The IRS is seeking candidates for Tax Examining Clerks/Technicians in the Taxpayer Services Division.
Job Description:

As a Tax Examining Clerk/Technician, your work will support hardworking Americans and their communities daily.
Duties:
- Research and analyze tax issues, including obtaining information for correction of accounts and records; verifying, analyzing, and adjusting taxpayer accounts.
- Secure payment of delinquent taxes and filing of delinquent returns. Determine financial, levy source, adjustment, and uncollectible information; advise taxpayers of appeal procedures.
- May serve as a technical advisor, OJT coach, classroom instructor, or reviewer, and provide technical assistance on systemic problems and inconsistencies in IRMs.
Career Progression:
This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses.
Qualifications:
Federal experience is not required to qualify for any of the grade levels identified below. You will qualify for one of the following opportunities based on your specialized experience and/or education.
Experience for the GS-04 Grade Level:
General experience for this position includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the competencies needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Specialized Experience for the GS-05 Grade Level:
You must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service.
