WATER TREATMENT SERVICE TECHNICIAN JOB SUMMARY

  • Inspect, trouble-shoot, and repair all components of water treatment systems. These automated treatment processes require proper and precise control and mixing of water, liquid reagents, and dry solids.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for keeping systems in proper operating condition through routine or incidental maintenance. Installation or repair of equipment related to the water treatment program.

2. Perform field measurements using test kits and collect water samples that include but are not limited to cooling towers, closed loop and boiler systems for laboratory analysis following proper handling, storage, and chain-of-custody procedures.

3. Maintain product inventories at full service customers.

4. Maintains accurate inventory records of water treatment products, reagents and equipment at local warehouse facility.

5. Completes all necessary paperwork, including work orders, service reports, expense reports, call activity reports and monthly schedules.

6. Communicates with assigned Manager on a day-to-day basis in resolving complex technical issues.

7. Deliver chemistries in 5-gal and 30-gal containers to territory.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Demonstrated experience as a field technician in the same (i.e. environmental or water treatment) or similar industries (e.g. HVAC, electrical, mechanics, and plumbing).

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

  • Valid Driver's License

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Language Skills include: Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills include: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability include: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills include: Word Processing Software -- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Includes the ability to learn other computer programs as used in the industry.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction
  • Ability to balance requirements of multiple and varied duties
  • Mechanical skills, proficiency in using hand tools and power tools, ability in communicating and documenting technical data, and working knowledge in basic chemistry, electrical safety, and general computer applications
  • Familiarity with environmental or water treatment projects is desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Traveling or long periods in automobile while within the territory
  • Physical/Sensory functions include: Standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, climb or balance, stooping, kneeling, crouching, speaking, hearing, smelling. Lifting 75lbs or moving 650lbs.
  • Vision requirements include; close vision at 20 inches or less, distance vision 20 feet or more, ability to adjust focus and to see color.
  • There may be environmental conditions: wet or humid, working near moving mechanical parts, work in high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold or hot non weather related, risk of electrical shock, or vibrations. May experience loud noise levels.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime

Work Location: On the road
