Basic salary : Between RM6,210.00 to RM14,370.00 (based on experience)
Area of specialization : Philosophy, Islamic Thought or Religious Study.
Department : Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion
Kulliyyah (Faculty) : Abdulhamid Abusulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences
Location : Gombak
The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.
The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.
The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.
The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).

- Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
- Developing curricula and course material that can be used across a number of platforms.
- Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
- Setting and grading assignments, tests, exams and other types of assessment.
- Keeping accurate records of course files every semester.
- Conducting research, and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
- Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the institution.
- Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
- Providing support to students and other colleagues.
- Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
- Supervising internship students, if assigned.
- Monitoring student’s association co-curricular activities, if assigned.
- Completing any administrative task assigned by Head of Department.
- Attend and participate in any workshops, events and trainings organized by the Kulliyyah.
- Minimum Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Usul al-Din, Religious Studies or Philosophy.
- At least one year teaching experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Masters must be in Islamic Studies or Philosophy.
- Published work in good communication journals would be advantageous.
- Minimum Competencies
- Ability to inspire students with your passion.
- Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work well in a team, and prioritize department needs, and
- Able to multi-task and follow deadlines in any tasks given.
- Language Qualifications
- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
