The Department of Religion at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a one-year position as a part-time lecturer in Religion and Society, beginning Fall 2025. Applications are welcome both from candidates who will have completed their PhD by August 2025 and from highly qualified, advanced ABD candidates. The successful candidate will have a record of excellence in research and undergraduate teaching. Field of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated ability to teach courses in western theological traditions and in the intersection of religion and race in North America. The budgeted salary for this position is $38,860 for a 9-month service basis. Candidates with a PhD in hand will be considered as Lecturer. Candidates who are ABD will be considered as Instructor. This appointment may be renewed subject to enrollments, funding, and positive performance evaluations.
