Academic Advisor (Remote – International Applicants Preferred)

Job Overview:
The International Islamic University of Minnesota (IIUMN) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Academic Advisor to support student services, admissions, and academic operations. This role involves maintaining student records in Sycamore, assisting with student and academic account setups, preparing Google Classrooms for the next semester, and managing email communications for both Academics and Admissions. The ideal candidate is organized, tech-savvy, and proficient in English, with a passion for assisting students in their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Records & Data Entry:
Update and maintain student records in Sycamore (student management system).
Ensure accuracy of student data, including enrollment status, course registrations, and academic progress.
Account Setup & Academic Support:
Assist students with setting up and accessing their academic accounts.
Support the Academics team in preparing and setup for the next semester.
Admissions & Enrollment Support:
Assist the Admissions team with processing student applications and maintaining applicant records.
Communicate with prospective students regarding admission requirements and application statuses.
Communication & Student Support:
Manage academic and admissions email inquiries from students and teachers, ensuring timely responses.
Provide guidance to students on course selection, academic policies, university procedures, and enrollment steps.
Collaboration & Process Improvement:
Work closely with faculty and staff to enhance student support services.
Identify and suggest ways to streamline administrative processes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
High proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Strong attention to detail and experience with data entry.
Ability to learn and navigate academic management systems (Sycamore, Google Classroom, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Highly organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable handling email inquiries professionally and efficiently.
Preferred:
Previous experience in academic advising, admissions, student services, or administrative roles in an educational setting.
Familiarity with Islamic education or experience working with an Islamic institution.
Based in Indonesia, Philippines, or Egypt (preferred, but open to applicants worldwide outside the USA).
Remote Based:
This is a remote position, with preference for applicants in Indonesia, Philippines, or Egypt, but candidates from other regions may apply.
Must be available and willing to accomadate USA Central Time hours
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience in higher education institutions, preferably within Islamic or bilingual (English-Arabic) settings.
Fluent in English, verbal and written communication. Arabic Fluency is a plus.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient or willing to learn use of learning management systems such as Sycamore and Google Classroom and productivity tools such as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Familiarity with Islamic principles and the ability to integrate them into academic settings.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
