The Communications Department (COM) is the IMF’s center for strategic communication. It develops and coordinates the Fund’s external and internal communications strategy, shapes key messages, and advises Management and staff on how best to convey those messages. The Department also monitors and responds to what is being said and written about the institution, both inside and outside the Fund.
COM is looking for a Communications Officer to work in its Digital Communications Division. The Division is responsible for developing the IMF’s digital strategy, carrying out digital communications operations, and serving as center of expertise in the IMF on digital outreach. It manages the IMF’s external website - IMF.org, social media accounts, as well as other digital communications platforms that provide external audiences with information and key messages about the global economy and the full range of the IMF’s activities and policies. We are seeking an all-around communications professional specializing in data analysis/mining, with an emphasis on the website and social media.
Under the general supervision of the Division’s managers, the candidate will be responsible for contributing to all aspects of digital communications work with a special focus on data analytics.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, develop, and implement creative web and social media data analytics strategies tailored to meet institutional communications goals, including by applying innovative approaches and best practices.
- Utilize the digital analytics tools - Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Brandwatch, Socialbakers, Microsoft Power BI, and Tableau - to create and maintain custom and recurring web, video, and social media analytics reports delivering insights on user behavior, site performance, and new feature success.
- Identify gaps in the user journey to propose actions to optimize the user experience.
- Create pre and post analyses to measure impact on key KPIs and provide follow-up recommendations.
- Contribute to other divisional and departmental efforts, including matrix work, as needed.
The position is an initial one-year contractual appointment.
Qualifications
The candidate will have an advanced university degree, or equivalent, in communications, international relations, journalism, engineering, computer science, math, statistics, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a university degree, or equivalent, and ten years of relevant professional experience. Strong command of English; fluency in other languages is a plus.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communications and analytical skills. He/she will possess an advanced hands-on knowledge of creating and implementing digital data analytics strategies and leveraging data analytics tools; experience with managing large-scale, multifaceted projects; and knowledge and understanding of what the IMF does, good knowledge of economic and financial matters, as well as a sound understanding of global economic governance issues. Knowledge of web and social media platforms and operations is desirable. Ability to negotiate effectively and be a team player, as well as openness to feedback and excellent interpersonal skills, are non-negotiable.
