What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Laborer position at International Support Group LLC?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Grounds Laborer maintains the grounds of commercial or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds and athletic fields. Work includes routine mowing, trimming, pruning, spraying herbicide, tree removal, and leaf removal.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
- Mow, edge, and fertilize grounds.
- Weed and mulch landscape beds.
- Trim hedges, shrubs, and small trees.
- Remove dead, damaged or otherwise hazardous trees.
- Perform leaf removal using backpack blower or PTO equipment.
- Completed routine preventative maintenance on mowing equipment.
- Remove snow from sidewalks, roadways and parking lots using shovel, snowblower or other related equipment. Spread salt on walkways and other areas.
- Paint structures, fences, gates and boundary lines.
- Assist in repairing roads, walks, buildings and mechanical equipment.
- Sweep out operational buildings.
- Pressure wash concrete surfaces, buildings, and playgrounds.
- Completes non-routine grounds maintenance according to schedule provided by the Manager.
- Handles emergency grounds maintenance issues and upkeep requests.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Use of riding lawn mower, weed trimmer, backpack blower, and tractor.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
May require lifting up to 100 lbs., prolonged exposure to outdoor elements, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee’s use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, Army Safety Program and published ISG work rules.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, or climb for extended periods throughout the day. Must have physical stamina.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have prior experience in landscaping or possess general knowledge in grounds maintenance.
- GED or High School diploma preferred
