Description
The Human Resources & Benefits Specialist provides comprehensive support and resolution to employees and managers to facilitate successful HR and benefits programs, and business practices. This individual plays a key role in the organization and within the HR department with responsibilities including benefits onboarding and benefits problem resolution, benefits administration, HR training, policy implementation and compliance, termination, and HR best practices. The HR Generalist will report to the HR Manager/Business Partner with dotted line responsibilities to the VP of HR, while providing overall support to the organization's business leaders.

Requirements
- ? Responsible for scheduling HSA deposits and ensuring HSA deposits are maintained and updated; also manifest eh FSA benefit program
- ? Ensures accurate and timely enrollment for new hires which includes updating employment information in Employee Navigator andsupporting with any necessary troubleshooting
- ? Supports the Finance department with quality control and accounting updates for the master reconciliation report
- ? Gathers and audits all benefits invoices related to employer sponsored benefit plans (health insurance, LTD, STD, FSA, HSA, COBRA.Accident Insurance, etc.)
- ? Processes Qualifying Life Event changes including communicating with employees, collecting necessary documentation and processing inEmployee Navigator
- ? Communicates necessary COBRA processes to relevant employees and ensures accuracy with COBRA and related reports
- ? Administers and processes various 401k plan functions (hardship withdrawals, loans, etc.)
- ? Coordinates and manages plans with insurance and retirement brokers, and vendors to provide administrative updates for training,enrollment, offboarding,plan design changes, etc.
- ? Serves as point of contact for all employees regarding any questions related to benefits and the 401k plan
- ? Reviews, tracks, documents and manages compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education and workassessment. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure and certifications
- ? Acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
- ? Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to compensation andleaves; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; and training and development
- ? Handles employment-related inquiries from applications, employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to appropriate staff; or handling on their own
- ? Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations as needed
- ? Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policiesand practices to maintain compliance
- ? Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management andemployment law
- ? Manages the onboarding and orientation process for all new employees, including staff and faculty, with completion of required paperwork
- ? maintaining HR records by updating new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications in Paylocity system
- ? Conducts exit interviews
- ? Generates reports for employee data
- ? Manages safety compliance and paperwork for work-related injuries and illnesses, and engages in investigations (CalOSHA and OSHA)
- ? Handles other projects and tasks as needed
- ? Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field preferred
- ? A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in Human Resources (general HR and Benefits preferred)
- ? Experience in the general principles and practices of human resource administration
- ? Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- ? Skilled in verbal and written communication (ability to present and speak in larger groups)
- ? Proficient in Excel or Google Sheet and ability to sort and analyze large volumes of data
