Job Description
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for the sourcing and procurement of raw materials and chemicals required for our fertilizer production operations. This role involves negotiating with multiple suppliers to secure competitive rates and ensuring that all company entities are supplied with the necessary materials in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
Raw Material Procurement :
Identify and evaluate suppliers for raw materials.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
Monitor market trends and conditions to anticipate supply challenges and opportunities.
Chemical Procurement :
Source and procure chemicals required for fertilizer production.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in the procurement process.
Maintain up-to-date records of chemical inventories and usage.
Supplier Negotiations :
Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure the best terms.
Manage supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers promptly and effectively.
Inventory Management :
Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock without over-accumulation.
Coordinate with production and logistics teams to manage stock levels efficiently.
Implement inventory control measures to optimize material usage and reduce waste.
Cross-functional Collaboration :
Work closely with various company entities to understand their material needs.
Ensure seamless communication and coordination between procurement, production, and other departments.
Assist in developing procurement strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
Compliance and Documentation :
Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
Prepare reports and provide insights on procurement activities and performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the chemical or fertilizer industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing supplier relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to chemical procurement is a plus.
