What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st -Quality Vision System Specialist position at Interstate Packaging Company?
Primary job function:
- Understand and interpret customer specifications by reading work orders and following product mock-up “art” board diagrams.
- Performs physical quality assurance tests on bags, pouches and tubes.
- Documents test results. Monitors test data for trends and potential risks.
- Works closely with operators and adjustors to identify any risk areas of the product that may require additional attention.
- Works closely with operators, adjustors, supervisors and area managers to ensure that various customer quality standards are understood.
- Works closely with operators, adjustors, supervisors and area managers to ensure that questionable material is reviewed at the appropriate level within the organization.
- Oversee the Non-Conforming Material process to ensure that questionable material is reviewed and that non-conforming material is appropriately contained and dispositioned to prevent it from delivering to the customer.
- Gathers and ships customers samples as required by the customer.
Secondary duties will include:
- Retrieves art boards for various departments throughout the plant as needed and able.
- Maintain retain sample inventory.
- Cross train with other areas within the quality assurance department as able.
- Perform various SQF compliance activities as assigned.
- Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs) policies and procedures.
- Any other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent/Associate Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related field.
- Experience with various computer software platforms – Excel, Word, Shop Floor, Axapta, Data Entry, and Work Orders, blueprints/artwork.
- Ability to speak effectively with machine operators, production, and management.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to read procedure manual and job specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Reading, writing and general math skills are needed to understand production orders.
- Basic computer skills are needed, including data retrieval and input and shop floor.
- Must have ability to communicate effectively at all levels – production employees, administrative personnel, supervision and management.
- Math skills should include reading measurements, understanding variation and specification ranges, applying fractions, percentages ratios and proportions.
- Must have good mobility in order to walk around and perform quality checks on all converting department equipment.
- Must be able to independently comprehend and follow detailed instructions.
- Must be able to distinguish subtle shades of color accurately in order to match samples and colorimeter. (Colorblind test is required.)
- Must have good communication skills needed to characterize quality problems with all departments involved with the production of product and must have the ability to reason the source of the problem.
- Must have good organizational and record keeping skills.
Must possess basic knowledge of QA inspection, testing and sampling techniques.
