Job Description:
The Landfill Operations Manager will lead and drive landfill operations, developing and executing strategies that support performance, including asset planning, long-term objective planning, safety, productivity, environmental management, financial performance, and employee retention.
- Manage day-to-day landfill operations, providing daily support to supervisors in ensuring quality and budget performance
- Assist in designing and implementing facilities operating plans, consistent with established objectives
- Develop facility budgets, forecasting financial and workforce planning needs for future time periods
- Oversee personnel, selecting, coaching, and training employees, evaluating performance, and providing input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions
- Organize resources required to accomplish activities
- Investigate injuries and incidents, following up with consistent discipline and retraining as needed, working congruently with Safety
- Engage suppliers in problem-solving and participate in supplier improvement processes
- Implement programs to improve safety, productivity, and profitability, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulations
- Prepare reports on waste management activities, including statistical information and landfill conditions
- Perform daily inspections to detect and correct operational deficiencies
- Familiarity with landfill gas and leachate collection systems to ensure proper functioning
- Develop and maintain records for waste management activities in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Monitor landfill site conditions and inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety
