The Orthopedics and Pain Management Nurse Practitioner plays a crucial role in providing specialized care to patients experiencing acute pain. Duties
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ pain levels and medical histories.
- Develop and implement individualized pain management plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Document all patient interactions, treatments, and progress accurately in medical records.
- Educate patients and their families on pain management strategies and self-care techniques.
- Stay informed about current practices in pain management, including workers compensation law and acute pain management protocols.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care strategies.
Experience
Candidates should have a background in nursing with experience in pain management or related fields. Preferred qualifications include:
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to pain management practices.
- Familiarity with medical documentation processes.
- Experience with sterile processing and aseptic techniques.
- Understanding of MDS (Minimum Data Set) requirements.
- Skills in dialyzing patients when necessary.
- Experience or training related to infant care may be beneficial but is not required.
