Mission or Goal of Unit : Children’s Hospital of Richmond of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.Chief Purpose of this position : The Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a physician within the Section of Clinical Genetics. CHoR at VCU is committed to providing quality patient care and service excellence. The Section of Clinical Genetics offers inpatient and outpatient consultations and genetic counseling services for genetic conditions across the lifespan. CHoR is the largest full-service academic pediatric hospital in central Virginia and part of a multispecialty hospital with 160 beds. Our Children’s Pavilion for outpatient services opened in March 2016, and our new 500,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art inpatient facility, Children’s Tower, opened in April 2023.Position Responsibilities : Teaching : Will contribute to the clinical supervision and education of residents, medical students, genetic counseling graduate students, and ancillary staff. Didactic teaching in MS Genetic Counseling Program and VCU School of Medicine.Research : Will engage in scholarship through presentations at national meetings, contributions to peer-reviewed scientific literature, and active participation in appropriate professional organizations.Service : Will participate in regional and national conferences with clinical colleagues. Participation in departmental, institutional, and national committees is encouraged when appropriate.Clinical : Active participation as a clinician in various clinics and other settings, including telemedicine, and sharing call and consultative responsibilities with other Clinical Genetics physicians. VCU Clinical Genetics sees patients across the lifespan, from preconception to end of life. Candidates can expect to see both pediatric and adult patients.
