Chief Purpose of this position : The Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) atVirginia Commonwealth University is seeking a physician within the Section of ClinicalGenetics. CHoR at VCU has a commitment to provide quality patient care andservice excellence. The Section of Clinical Genetics offers inpatient andoutpatient consultations and genetic counseling services for genetic conditionsacross the lifespan. CHoR is the largest full-service academic pediatric hospitalin central Virginia, and part of a multispecialty hospital with 160 beds. OurChildren's Pavilion for outpatient services opened in March 2016. Our new500,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art inpatient facility Children's Toweropened in April 2023.
Position Responsibilities :
- Teaching : Will contribute to the clinical supervision and education of residents, medical students, genetic counseling graduate students, and ancillary staff. Didactic teaching in MS Genetic Counseling Program and VCU School of Medicine.
- Research : Will engage in scholarship through presentations at national meetings, contributions to peer-reviewed scientific literature, and active participation in appropriate professional organizations.
- Service : Will participate in regional and national conferences with clinical colleagues. Participation in departmental, institutional and national committees is encouraged, when appropriate.
- Clinical : Active participation as a clinician in various clinics and other settings, including telemedicine, and sharing call and consultative responsibilities with other Clinical Genetics physicians. VCU Clinical Genetics sees patients across the lifespan, from preconception to end of life. Candidates can expect to see both pediatric and adult patients. Majority of clinical appointment will be conducted on our downtown Richmond campus in both our adult outpatient pavilion and our pediatric outpatient pavilion.
