Job Summary:
The Door Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial and residential doors, including automatic doors, sectional doors, rolling steel doors, and related access control systems. The technician ensures all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of door systems, including commercial, residential, and automatic doors.
- Diagnose issues related to mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of doors and access control systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ensure all installations and repairs meet safety and operational standards.
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete scheduled jobs on time.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs, answering questions, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Maintain and account for all tools, equipment, and inventory provided by the company.
- Adhere to OSHA and company safety guidelines while working on job sites.
- Complete work orders, reports, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in door installation, repair, or related fields (commercial, industrial, or residential).
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, welding, and access control systems is a plus.
- Certifications: AAADM (American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers) certification preferred but not required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, work on ladders and lifts, and handle power tools safely.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean record required.
- Work Conditions: Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and occasional after-hours or emergency calls.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with automatic doors, high-speed doors, and access control systems.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
