The Tool and Die Maker III assesses tool condition, troubleshoots complex tools, and works closely with engineering on tooling issues and design improvements.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects highly complex tools (molds & dies) for damage and wear to assess overall condition. *
- Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts. *
- Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations. *
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances on new and existing designs.
- Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part. Including production machines.
- Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machine parts to specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Two-year technical school in Tool & Die making or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years related experience as a Toolmaker.
Skills:
- Understanding of various tool steels and how they relate to the appropriate application.
- Knowledge of small miniature molds is a plus.
- Experience with medical grade resins is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of machine shop practice.
- Highly analytical.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of machine shop practice.
- Understands trigonometry.
- Understands production machine functions and can troubleshoot mechanical functions.
- Good communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to walk, squat, bend, climb, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Employee is frequently required to talk or hear. Employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Employee must frequently lift 10 pounds and/or occasionally move up to 50 pounds.

SALARY RANGE:
The anticipated base pay for this position is: $34/hour - $42/hour
Intricon is committed to providing competitive total compensation and benefits packages. This listed range is based upon a full-time schedule. This is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Base salaries are determined by taking a variety of factors in account, including, but not limited to, candidate qualifications, education, geographic locations, market conditions and internal equity.
