Quality Assurance Specialist

Invariant Corporation is seeking a talented and motivated Quality Assurance Specialist to help us continue to provide high quality products as we expand our offerings to our government customers.
The Quality Assurance Specialist will contribute to all quality assurance functions, assisting in the continual improvement of our ISO 9001 compliant Quality Management System. The individual will ensure that the products our customers receive will consistently be free of defects and exceed customer expectations.
Duties Include:
- Support the improvement/sustainment of our QMS.
- Perform receipt inspection against PO requirements and drawing requirements, as applicable.
- Support maintaining traceability of purchased and manufactured hardware components.
- Perform both manual and CMM inspections of in-process and final inspections of machined parts.
- Support packaging machined parts for outside processing, as needed.
- Support packaging/labeling/part marking finished parts, as needed.
- Support continuous improvement and customer satisfaction initiatives.
- Assist with root cause and corrective action investigations and help implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Work cooperatively with Hardware/Software development, field operations, data analysts, and contract manufacturers, as needed.
- Help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop stationed drawings and inspection reports for all hardware products.
- Support system-level test events, as needed.
- Perform cable testing using our in-house cable testing machine, as needed.
- Support heli-coil and other shop assembly tasks, as needed.
- Support route sheet generation and drawing release process, as needed.
- Assist with counterfeit part prevention, as needed.
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess a degree from an accredited university with a focus in Quality, Business, Operations Management, or related field or 10 years of related work experience in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 compliant quality lab within aerospace or manufacturing industries.
- Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years programming and operating a CMM.
- Candidate must be able to use manual inspection techniques to be able to inspect features necessary to verify hardware compliance.
- Ability to assist with cross-departmental collaboration to enforce and enhance quality management practices.
- Experience in change management and driving organizational adoption of quality initiatives.
- Ability to interact professionally in a small, fast-paced, and mission-driven environment with co-workers, management, and client.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential.
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, Visio)
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Audit experience in manufacturing and services environment.
- Experience troubleshooting nonconformances and working with customers, suppliers, and engineers for improvements.
- Experience in participating in quality investigations, undertaking root cause analysis, developing corrective action plans, and ensuring the effectiveness of actions undertaken.
- Experience with DoD cabling and electrical drawings/schematics.
- Experience with Verisurf software.
Essential Functions:
Work Environment
- Office, lab, and field, environments.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for extended periods of time at desk, in telecoms/meetings with peers, management.
- Ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at customer worksites and Invariant facilities during travel.
Equipment And Machines
- Requires ability to operate a personal computer, telephone, printer, copier, and other general office equipment.
- Requires ability to operate a CMM and program with Verisurf CMM software (or equivalent).
Attendance
- Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. Alternate work schedule can be negotiated.
- Support will be provided as needed during this time frame, but small efforts may be required at any time to support operations.
Other Essential Functions
- Obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama.
