What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Design Engineer position at Invent Staffing?
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plant Layout & Process Design:
- Develop and implement optimized plant layouts that streamline workflows, reduce waste, and maximize space utilization.
- Utilize Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, and Kanban to enhance material flow and workstation ergonomics.
- Modify existing plant layouts to integrate new products, equipment, or process changes, ensuring optimal functionality.
2. Lean Manufacturing Implementation:
- Lead the application of Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, improve productivity, and reduce costs across operations.
- Implement initiatives such as Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory management, Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Drive Continuous Improvement (CI) projects aimed at enhancing plant efficiency and operational effectiveness.
3. Collaboration & Communication:
- Partner with production, engineering, and quality teams to align plant design with overall operational goals.
- Facilitate Lean training and workshops for plant employees, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure plant modifications meet design and equipment requirements.
4. Data Analysis & Performance Improvement:
- Conduct thorough analysis of production data to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform time studies, motion analysis, and workflow assessments to recommend and implement process enhancements.
- Use data-driven insights to drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
5. Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all plant layouts and processes comply with safety regulations, ergonomic standards, and relevant industry regulations.
- Collaborate with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure adherence to all safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in plant layout and process design, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and experience in implementing Lean tools such as JIT, SMED, TPM, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Proficient in data analysis, time studies, and process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards, safety practices, and ergonomic principles in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing business needs.
