Job Description
Your role:
The Managing Director, Consultant Relations – Private Markets is responsible for elevating the visibility and growth of Invesco’s full suite of private credit and real estate strategies through the investment consultant community in North America. This individual will partner collaboratively with the Institutional Sales team, Private Markets investment teams, Client Portfolio Managers, and Global Consultant Relations team to develop and execute on a unified vision for growth. This Consultant Relations private markets executive will develop and execute the strategic plan for covering research consultants, field consultants and senior management within key private markets consulting firms, as well as partner with and act as a resource to the Consultant Relations team on global and regional consultants as well as OCIO/discretionary firms in the US. The goal is to deepen Invesco’s relationships with investment consultants and develop a consistent and strategic dialogue so that Invesco can enhance and grow its position in the marketplace with respect to Private Credit and Real Estate.
You will be responsible for:
- Establish, maintain, and nurture high quality relationships with private markets consulting firms across North America, as well as partner with the team of MD – Consultant Relations on global and regional consultants in the US; this includes developing goals, objectives, strategies and tactics to create meaningful relationships with the institutional consultant community resulting in strong product ratings and search activity initiated by consultants
- Partner with Institutional Sales teams and CPM’s to assist them in prioritizing calling efforts with LP’s whose consultants have a favorable view of the firm’s products
- Collaborate with Institutional Sales team on joint business development initiatives, information sharing and relationship deepening
- Build and maintain private markets consulting firm business plans and profiles to facilitate sales and service efforts
- Regularly obtain feedback from consultants on their perspective of Invesco’s private markets offerings to inform product positioning, future product strategy and business approach
- Partner closely with Head of Consultant Relations and Invesco’s marketing team to develop collateral material and communications focused on education and product positioning
- Collaborate with the firm’s product teams, investment teams and client service to facilitate new business onboarding and client cross-selling activities
- Embrace and support a team-oriented model with effective communication, transparency and trust
- Participate strategically in industry conferences as appropriate
The experience you bring:
- 10 years of consultant relations experience with a demonstrated success initiating and commercializing relationships with consultants including at the research and field level
- Established relationships with key decision makers who advise on private credit (required) and real estate
- Possess excellent knowledge of alternative investment strategies, capital markets, portfolio management and asset allocation
- Knowledge of multi-asset sectors, including distressed credit or real estate debt, with private debt as the preferred asset class
- Superior communication and presentation skills coupled with the requisite level of gravitas to effectively position Invesco and its capabilities to Consultants
- Desire to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, and work closely with colleagues across business units
- Deep understanding of trends and buying behavior for institutional investors as it relates to their use of Private Credit and Real Estate within existing asset allocation
- A winning mindset and team player mentality with a relentless drive to succeed.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
- CFA, CAIA, MBA, or similar accreditations are preferred.
- Series 7 and 63 are required.
The salary range for this position in New York City is $200,000 - $250,000 year. The total compensation offered for this position includes salary and incentive pay and will vary based on skills, experience and location.
