Position Summary:
The Private Equity Vice President / Principal will play a key role in the identification, execution, and oversight of middle-market buyout investments. This position requires a strong background in operational work, as well as in traditional private equity. The VP / Principal will be responsible for managing deal processes, conducting in-depth due diligence, and implementing operational improvements in portfolio companies. This role involves collaborating closely with senior leadership, management teams, and other stakeholders to drive transformative changes that maximize value.
Key Responsibilities:
Deal Sourcing & Execution:
- Identify and evaluate investment opportunities within the middle-market buyout space, leveraging industry contacts and market research.
- Lead deal structuring, including valuation, financial modeling, and negotiation of transaction terms.
- Oversee comprehensive due diligence, coordinating cross-functional teams to assess financial, operational, and strategic aspects of potential acquisitions.
Operational Transformation:
- Develop and execute turnaround plans, including organizational restructuring, performance enhancement, and operational optimization.
- Partner with portfolio company executives to implement sustainable changes that drive profitability, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance overall performance.
- Track KPIs and progress, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure alignment with investment objectives.
Portfolio Management & Value Creation:
- Work closely with portfolio company management to develop and execute strategic initiatives that create value and address operational challenges.
- Manage liquidity events, exit strategies, and portfolio transitions to optimize investment returns.
Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Mentor and develop junior team members, providing guidance on financial analysis, modeling, and the operational aspects of investments.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to refine investment strategies and enhance the firm’s operational expertise in complex situations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 6 years of experience in private equity, with a strong focus on distressed or turnaround investments.
- Demonstrated experience in operational work, including restructuring, cost reduction, and performance improvement.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach and a high degree of adaptability.
Location:
This role is based in Manhattan, NY. On-site presence is required four days a week, Monday through Thursday.
