Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Materials Handler to join our team. The successful candidate will manage the operational tasks associated with the materials function and ensure efficient material handling, inventory management, and production support. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to established processes, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving materials and supplies.
- Put away materials in designated storage locations.
- Organizing and managing material storage to ensure easy access.
- Picking materials for production needs.
- Kitting materials for production lines.
- Line feeding – ensuring materials are available for production on time.
- Cycle counting for inventory accuracy.
- Labeling materials to ensure proper identification.
- Transporting materials within the facility.
- Packing and palletizing materials for shipment.
Process and Procedure Adherence
- Following processes and procedures as outlined by leadership.
- Recording material transactions, either manually, electronically, or within the ERP system.
- Ensuring proper handling and storage of materials in designated locations.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records and reports.
Workplace Safety and Cleanliness
- Following 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Ensuring safe and efficient operation of material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, and keeping them in good condition.
- Performing daily cleaning tasks within the work area.
Production and Department Support
- Ensuring the timely delivery of materials and goods to production and other departments.
- Supporting shipping preparations as needed.
- Contributing to the implementation and development of the ERP system.
Communication and Teamwork
- Maintaining effective communication with peers, colleagues, and leadership.
- Demonstrating a positive, respectful, and collaborative attitude.
- Addressing challenges in a proactive and solution-oriented manner.
Success Indicators:
- Supporting accurate inventory management and the prevention of production shortages or out-of-stock items.
- Timely delivery of materials to production as per established processes.
- Reliability and responsibility – adhering to attendance and punctuality requirements.
- Demonstrating a positive, winning attitude and showing respect to all team members.
- Proactive communication and teamwork with all members of the organization.
Required Experience & Education:
- Proven experience as a material handler or in a similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and ERP systems.
- Understanding of best manufacturing practices.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Desired Experience & Education:
- Experience in marine, automotive, or aerospace industries is desirable.
- Additional qualifications in warehousing or materials management.
- Experience in start-up or greenfield projects.
