We're hiring an extremely talented scientist focused on neurodegeneration and Alzheimer's disease. A deep background in Alzheimer's disease and dementia prevention is critical for success in this role, as are an intervention-oriented mindset to prevention and regenerative CNS medicine. Designing strategies to protect aging neurons and regenerate damaged neurons are two primary goals.
At ICR, you'll get to:
- Devise novel practical and actionable interventions to slow age-related cognitive decline and prevent dementia, particularly Alzheimer's disease
- Research highly translational technologies to preserve existing CNS function or repair/restore damaged CNS components
- Collaborate with other ICR scientists to leverage company resources and maximize productivity
Please apply if you have:
- A PhD with postdoctoral experience focused on regenerating lost CNS neurons/other cells, repairing damaged CNS neurons/other cells or preventing age-related brain damage
- Extensive knowledge of iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cell)-derived in vitro neuronal models as well as experience with exosomes as therapeutics; additional mixed cell-type culture models is preferred
- Experience making iPSC-derived brain organoids for compound screening
- Even if you don't meet all of these criteria, please apply anyway
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Hands-on experience with fluorescence microscopy
- Experience with mitochondrial energetic assay systems like Seahorse
- Knowledge of basic stem cell-derived neuronal-type differentiation pathways
