Founded in 1863 by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, 'Iolani School is an Episcopal day and boarding school in Honolulu, Hawai'i enrolling approximately 2200 students on its K-12, 25-acre urban campus.
'Iolani School seeks a full-time Upper School English teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The position requires teaching at least one of our core English courses (grades 7-10) and ongoing collaboration with teaching teams at the course and grade level.
In addition to being an active participant in our vibrant learning community, we are looking for an educator who will inspire and support our students. The ideal candidate is dynamic, a strong communicator (both written and oral) and committed to professional growth in their discipline and teaching practice.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree or higher in English Literature, Speech, or Composition, as well as at least 3-5 years of teaching experience in grades 7-12. A demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and to design lessons which make use of a wide variety of learning methods is also very important. Candidates should be comfortable designing and executing curriculum as part of a teaching team and embrace the use of instructional technology.
'Iolani School has many extracurricular opportunities available for those looking to extend their work beyond the classroom, including, but not limited to: participation in our residential life program and coaching athletic and/or academic student teams.
