Job Overview
The Account Manager’s primary role is to build and maintain strong relationships with our clients, fostering a culture of trust in our Health and Life products. The Account Manager will partner with Brokers to manage an assigned book of our valued clients to identify needs, assist in developing a Health Benefit insurance program, proposals and presentations, as well as review and present or send policies to our clients.
Responsibilities
- Retention of existing clients and assistance with the onboarding of new clients.
- Provides exceptional service to Leonard Adams clients while ensuring they receive services that align with their strategic goals.
- Collaborate with Agent to ensure the education of clients in their insurance program to ensure they have coverages that best fit their needs comprehensively. Recommend products / services to bridge any gaps in coverage.
- Process renewals, working closely with assigned Agent to remarket if necessary.
- Attend weekly Benefits staff meeting for team building and department strategies.
- Attend scheduled meetings with carriers to keep up to date on changes to their underwriting, coverages and/or processes.
- Respond promptly to client and carrier requests using email, phone, electronic fax and mail.
- Ensures all billing and billing questions are resolved.
- At times you will be assisting clients that are not directly assigned to you, such as when your coworker is out of the office or on another line.
- Coordinate and conduct client presentations including open enrollment meetings, benefit fairs, and renewal presentations
- Maintain a current working knowledge of industry legislative and compliance issues including, but not limited to: ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, etc.
- Review contracts, amendments and SPDs for accuracy and coverage; identify errors and coordinate corrections with the carrier/vendor.
- Provide claims, eligibility, billing and plan administration advocacy and resolution
- Acts as a mentor for Associate Account Managers as they work together on client objectives
- Responsible for the maintenance of client information ensuring that service standards are met and
- Stays up to date on new insurance developments to enhance professional working knowledge and competence

Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience within an insurance related industry, prefer experience with Large Group (50 )
- Prefer knowledge in the following area - medical, dental, disability, group life and individual including alternate funding arrangements (self-insured and level funded)
- Ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and willingness to help your teammates.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to listen, discern and prioritize with clients, colleagues and insurance carrier representatives.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and self-manage work load.
- Able to work under pressure and time constraints in fast paced environment with significant telephone and personal interruptions.
- Must have a current Oregon Health and Life license.
- Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Occasional travel to Portland area client meetings.
- Experience with Applied Epic, Wired Enroll, EASE and/or Employee Navigator preferred, but not required
Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a telephone and computer.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Light lifting to 20 lbs.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Core Work hours are 8:30am to 5pm, with consideration for alternative hours.
- Hybrid role – can work fully in office or in office 2 days per week.
