What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Director, Financial Plant Controller position at Iovance Biotherapeutics Inc?
Overview
Reporting to the SVP, Finance, as the Executive Director, Finance Plant Controller you will be responsible for managing all financial control and accounting activities at our manufacturing facility, the Iovance Cell Therapy Center, or iCTC, including general and cost accounting, payables, capital expenditures, and inventory management. Your role will be central to ensuring that financial data is accurately reported, analyzed, and used to inform strategic decisions. You will collaborate across departments, providing critical insights and financial guidance that directly impact our business's success. You will have ownership of ensuring the iCTC’s financial control processes and systems comply with Iovance’s policies and applicable regulations, as well monitoring the iCTC operational results against operating plans and working with the FP&A team develop financial and capital budgets as well as report to key stakeholders and key senior management team members on iCTC activities and costs. Additionally, you will be responsible for recommending and implementing programs to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs.
Specific Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
· Oversee monthly and quarterly close processes for general and cost accounting close for the iCTC in accordance with established timelines, including review of account reconciliation controls execution to ensure compliance with SOX guidelines.
· Work closely with manufacturing, warehousing and supply chain organizations to ensure that all financial transactions are complete, accurate and timely.
· Provide timely and effective reporting and analysis of financial information to meet the needs of the business, including but not limited to optimizing manufacturing processes, identifying cost-reduction opportunities and enhancing profitability, and comply with monthly/quarterly/yearly reporting requirements, including key performance metrics and results for senior management review.
· Develop, support and execute on the delivery of reporting dashboards for operational business partners; provide daily, weekly and monthly reports for plant and corporate management.
· Prepare internal reporting packages, including but not limited to comprehensive analysis of production costs, material consumptions, inventory levels, and capital expenditures.
· Manage internal and external audits and liaise with other leaders as needed.
· Monitor financial performance to identify and drive cost reductions.
· Analyze and interpret plant operation results, evaluating variances, and assessing the effects on the plant’s operations.
· Serve as project manager on cost reduction initiatives, working cross functionally with engineers, procurement, and manufacturing to drive cost reductions.
· Handle ad hoc requests for analyses and information.
Control and Compliance
· Ensure compliance with US GAAP and SOX objectives ensuring the timely completion of controls execution and posting of required documentation.
· Instruct all financial and operational personnel in control and process objectives.
· Drive continuous improvement in all areas related to reporting, control, and compliance.
· Serve as the business partner to the key senior management and stakeholders to focus on providing financial and operational leadership and improvements, including identifying and driving cost reductions.
Planning and Budgeting
· Assist the FP&A organization with budgeting and planning processes, including development of models and analysis as required.
· Establish and implement short and long-range department goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Taxes and Payroll
· Coordinate the preparation and filing of all business tax returns and local government registrations, including KOZ filings, renewal applications and compliance.
· Act as primary liaison with Corporate financial teams/auditors for preparation and review.
· Ensure that all intercompany balances and transactions comply with applicable regulations.
· Liaise with Corporate to oversee and support local payroll activities and ensure compliance with Corporate and Government regulations.
· Manage identified issues as required.
Reporting Systems
· Recommend and manage the implementation of improvements to ERP and other reporting systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
· Liaise with other leaders to ensure system enhancements meet business needs.
People
· Serve as key liaison to senior leadership team at the iCTC, including participation in key leadership team and organizational meetings as the finance representative.
· Providing effective leadership to staff, direct reports, and others in the Company to improve their performance and directing their career development.
Education and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
· 12 years of experience in manufacturing and costing; both general and cost accounting experience required
· 5 years demonstrated experience in a leadership role required
· Master’s Degree in related field preferred; CPA or CMA preferred
· Prior leadership/management experience required
· ERP systems software experience required; NetSuite preferred
· Exceptional knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley
· Proficiency in Microsoft required including Excel (pivot tables, v-lookup, etc.)
· Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills required
· Ability to handle a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
· Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, comfortable with ambiguity, work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change
