Schedule:
- Seasonal Summer Position (June through August)
- Shift 1- Monday through Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm
- Shift 2- Monday through Friday 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times during camp activities. Monitor campers closely to prevent accidents and address any safety concerns promptly.
- Activity Planning and Facilitation: Lead a diverse range of age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and gym rotations. Adapt activities to accommodate varying skill levels and interests among campers.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow camp counselors and gym staff to coordinate schedules and ensure smooth operation of the camp program. Work together to create a cohesive and inclusive camp community where campers feel supported and valued.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members to provide updates on camp activities, address concerns or questions, and celebrate camper achievements. Maintain open and positive communication channels to foster a sense of trust and transparency within the camp community.
- Role Model Behavior: Serve as a positive role model for campers by demonstrating enthusiasm for physical fitness, respect for others, and adherence to camp rules and guidelines. Lead by example in promoting healthy habits and encouraging campers to make positive choices in their lives.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or youth in a camp, recreational, or educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with campers and build rapport.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- Camp Counselors typically work full-time hours during the summer camp season, with the possibility of additional hours for staff training, planning meetings, and special events.
- Work environment may include indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to varying weather conditions and physical activity.
- Physical requirements may include standing for extended periods, lifting and carrying equipment, and participating in physical activities alongside campers.
