OPPORTUNITY: The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) is seeking student interns with backgrounds or demonstrated interest in human resources, public affairs, law, business administration (marketing, budget, accounting, etc.), and information technology.
The AO Student Internship Program provides valuable work experience and prepares interns for careers in public service. Interns have opportunities to hone their writing, communication, research, analytical, logical, multi-tasking, and customer service skills and receive valuable networking opportunities with fellow interns, agency employees, and other government employers.
All internships at the AO are on-site at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building (TMFJB) and telework is not permitted.
This internship opportunity is in AO's Human Resources Office.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
All students in the Student Internship Program must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student, taking at least a half-time academic or technical course load in an accredited 2-year or 4-year program, or in a post-secondary level program. Students must also be in good academic standing, maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Work well in a team environment.
Have very strong organization and communication skills and be detailed oriented.
Have a working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or WordPerfect.
Have excellent writing, reading, and interpersonal skills, and be able to organize a variety of assignments simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate student in Human Resources Management.
All Student Internship Program participants must be active students. Seniors graduating at the end of the current semester will not be considered unless they are pursuing advanced studies as a degree-seeking student at the beginning of the next semester.
Education
All students in the Student Internship Program must be enrolled in an accredited school and must be working toward a degree, diploma, certificate, etc. on a full-time or part-time basis. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. You can receive credit for education received outside the United States if you provide evidence that it is comparable to an accredited educational institution in the United States. A transcript is required at the time of application for proof of enrollment and education.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Analyzing and applying compensation setting and position qualifications under the Court Personnel System and Judiciary Salary Plan.
- Analyzing and applying HR policies as set forth in the Guide to Judiciary Policy, providing guidance to HR professionals and court unit executives, and reviewing personnel action requests.
- Reviewing and processing personnel action requests for various HR actions, including appointments, promotions, transfers, separations, terminations, discretionary pay increases, and awards within the Judiciary's HR management information system.
- Collaborating with HR specialists to evaluate position classification requests for compliance with established Court Personnel System benchmarks.
- Reviewing and auditing forms from separating employees to ensure compliance with the Guide to Judiciary Policy.
- Assisting in enhancing recruitment efforts and improving the Judiciary's social media presence.
- Providing support on various ad-hoc projects assigned to the Court Human Resources Division.
