Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated IT Helpdesk Technician to join our team at Iowa Radiology. This role is critical in supporting our radiology department and ensuring that all technology systems function effectively to deliver quality patient care. Responsibilities of the IT Helpdesk Technician:
- Provide first-level technical support to end-users, including radiologists, technicians, and administrative staff, via phone, email, and in-person.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues related to radiology systems, imaging devices, and associated applications.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment, including servers, workstations, printers, and network devices.
- Monitor and respond to service requests in a timely manner, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Document all support activities in the ticketing system, ensuring accurate tracking and resolution of issues.
- Collaborate with IT team members to implement system upgrades and software patches, particularly for radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
- Provide training and support to staff on new technologies and software applications.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, by ensuring data security and patient confidentiality.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.
Qualifications of the IT Helpdesk Technician:
- Education:
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field/related military experience.
- Experience:
- Proven experience in an IT helpdesk or technical support role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of computer systems, networks, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Familiarity with radiology-specific software and protocols (e.g. RIS, DICOM, PACS, HL-7) is a plus.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
