Position Title: Operations Technician
Supervisor: Operations Manager
Job Summary: Operation and maintenance of Association water distribution, pumping, storage, control, sewer collection, and pumping and telemetry systems. Examples of infrastructure responsible for includes, but not limited to: pumping stations, large meter equipment, water towers, building and grounds, radio telemetry, instrumentation and other associated equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily operation, inspection, record keeping and maintenance of water distribution, pumping, storage, control and telemetry systems.
- Responsible for the operation, calibration and maintenance of equipment, piping and appurtenances of water systems. Must keep and maintain the daily operation and maintenance records. Must keep all equipment and facilities in good working condition.
- Must understand and be able to operate the Association’s systems using the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system both on-site and remotely.
- Must understand means and methods associated with construction and installation of drinking water and sewer infrastructure. Position involves review and inspection of work completed by contractors for various Association projects.
- Must have thorough understanding of the fundamentals of water pumping and piping systems. Must have basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring and components. Must have basic understanding of Iowa DNR public water supply/distribution rules and requirements.
- General housekeeping, the ability to maintain a clean and professional appearance at IRUA facilities and properties is required.
- Must fill slot in rotation of Association’s after-hours On-Call rotation. Must be reasonably available evening and weekends for emergency operation and maintenance.
- Must have understanding of compliance with OSHA laws and regulations. Position requires the ability to work safely at heights in excess of 100 fees (water towers), inside, above and below ground confined spaces, with electrical wiring and power systems, lift material with weights in excess of 50 pounds and involves regular contact with chemicals, domestic wastewater and industrial wastewater.
